More and more people are going vegan, which means they do without all animal foods. Of course, this also includes refraining from consuming milk and dairy products.
There are also people who are lactose intolerant or who abstain from milk for other health reasons.
Cow's milk is known to many people as a healthy food. Recently, however, there have been more and more critical voices expressing doubts about this opinion. Various studies suggest that cow's milk is not healthy for humans, and it is even said to be carcinogenic.
In general, milk is intended as food for the offspring of the respective mammal. Therefore, many people who pay attention to a healthy diet avoid cow's milk and products containing milk. Plus, most plant-based alternatives are lower in fat and calories.
People who suffer from lactose intolerance experience health problems such as abdominal pain, severe cramps, and digestive issues like diarrhea or flatulence after consuming products containing lactose. Therefore, these individuals should avoid cow's milk and dairy products that contain lactose.

Oat milk – ecologically good
Oat milk tastes neutral and only slightly sweet. Since oats are native to our country, this plant-based drink is a very ecological alternative. The oats are crushed, boiled, and emulsified with vegetable oil. Oat milk can also be easily made at home . This is a cost-effective and ecological solution.
Almond milk – sweet plant drink
Almond milk has a sweetish taste that slightly resembles marzipan. The vegan drink made from almonds is gluten-free and can, therefore, be enjoyed by people with an intolerance to it.
Almond milk can be easily prepared by soaking almonds in water, then pureeing and filtering.
Since a lot of water is needed to grow almonds, almond milk is not the best alternative to cow's milk from an ecological point of view.

Classic soy milk – tasteless
Soy milk is very high in protein and has a neutral, slightly nutty taste. There is now soy milk available in every supermarket. Compared to cow's milk, soy milk has a higher protein and lower fat content.
The soy used usually comes from Europe and is grown without genetic engineering. The dried soybeans are soaked, cooked, and mashed.
Rice milk – perfect for allergy sufferers
Due to its low allergen content, rice milk is particularly suitable for allergy sufferers. Rice milk is tasteless and has a higher proportion of calories and a lower proportion of protein compared to other alternative milk drinks.
Hemp milk
Compared to other vegan drinks, hemp milk contains more fat but fewer carbohydrates in the form of sugar, making it lower in calories overall. Hemp milk can also be easily made at home.
Coconut milk – refreshing sweetness
Coconut milk, which can be used as a milk alternative, is very different from coconut milk used in Asian cuisine. Therefore, this drink is usually referred to as a "coconut drink" in supermarkets. Spelt milk
For spelt milk, the spelt grains are finely ground, soaked, pureed, and filtered. Since spelt is also native to our region, this drink is particularly environmentally friendly. Spelt milk has a slightly floury taste and contains little protein but many carbohydrates compared to cow's milk.

Nut milk
Nut milk can be made from any nut . It contains many vitamins and unsaturated fatty acids and, therefore, has positive health effects.
Depending on which nut is used, the taste will differ.

Lupin Milk – Protein Supplier
Like soybeans, lupins belong to the legume family. They contain more fiber and protein and less fat than soybeans. Lupins also excel in terms of regionality.

Muesli and water
To save calories, you can also prepare your cereal with water. For example, cereal with oatmeal soaked in boiling water makes a delicious porridge. Of course, if you want, you can also try the muesli with cold water, but that's a matter of taste.
Muesli in combination in a smoothie
If cereal tastes good with fruit juice, why wouldn't it also taste good with a smoothie? The advantages of a smoothie are, on the one hand, its slightly thicker consistency compared to fruit juice, and on the other hand, the fact that a smoothie usually contains several types of fruit.
