Oat biscuits are biscuits that are particularly popular in Scandinavian countries. In addition to flour, oats in the form of oat flakes are added to the dough.
The oat flakes in the oat biscuits give the biscuits a healthy touch. This is because oats contain lots of valuable dietary fiber, plant-based proteins, minerals, and vitamins.
The simple recipe
Ingredients for your oat biscuits
To make your own oat biscuits, you need butter, sugar, oat flakes, grated almonds, flour, eggs, cinnamon, a pinch of salt and baking powder.
You are sure to have most of these ingredients at home and can therefore already start preparing the oat biscuits.
Oat cookie preparation
The oat cookie preparation is quick and easy. Follow the instructions below:
Make your own oat cookie dough
To start preparing the cookies, the butter should be soft. You can also preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Mix the soft butter and egg with a mixer until frothy.
Mix the remaining ingredients in a separate bowl.
When the butter mixture becomes airy as you stir it, the flour mixture can be added gradually with the dry ingredients. And within a few minutes, the dough is ready!
Form the dough into cookies
To make oat biscuits, scoop out a little dough with a spoon and form small balls with your hand.
Place these balls on the prepared baking sheet with plenty of space between them. The distance must be large so that the biscuits do not merge into one another.
Ideally, you should place a maximum of 14 of your shaped balls on each baking sheet. Once the balls are in place, bake them on the middle rack for about 12 to 15 minutes until golden brown.
Then take the oat cookies off the baking sheet and let them cool, ideally on a wire rack.
Enjoying and storing oat cookies
Now it's time to enjoy! If you have any oat biscuits left over, you can store them in plastic boxes for later without any concerns.
Just make sure that you only put the biscuits in the box when they are completely cool.
